Grain Market Reaction to Big Yield Expectations

In central Iowa, the current cash corn price is $3.90 per bushel, and the current cash soybean price is $10.15. Small price improvements occurred in August after drier conditions entered the forecast for regions of the Midwest and disease-related yield concerns developed. In fact, compared to this time last year, the December corn cash price is approximately $0.20 per bushel higher. Figured on a 240-bushel per acre corn yield, this improves per acre revenue by nearly $50 per acre.
